At Uram Family Therapy, we have been helping kids regulate their emotions, decrease tantrums and understand their big emotions. Since kids resist talking directly about their emotions, we enter their world of video games and devices to connect with them as they figure out ways to improve their mood.
For example, we help kids learn self-regulation and social skills through playing Mario Kart on the Nintendo Switch. Our therapists play the game along with kids and observe their responses and model healthy interactions of encouragement and accepting losses. Our clients enjoy the process of play therapy and are more likely to practice these skills outside of therapy.
We have two locations that have Nintendo Switches. Our Irvine Spectrum location is in a quiet business park 5 minutes from the mall. Our Newport Beach location is 5 minutes from the airport behind the Lexus dealership. We have a peaceful fountain in front of our office. We offer Hot Chocolate, Tea, Coffee and some chocolates for our kids and adults. We do our best to help you and your family feel comfortable processing challenging emotions and difficult relationships respectfully and honestly.
